Okay so i'm asking this for a friend. She is interested in doing a physcology degree and is currently doing mathematics but is struggling. Although it says in all degrees that mathematics is assumed knowledge, how necessary is it really?

She is seriously considering dropping to general before hsc starts so she has more of a chance of getting the atar, because currently she is failing. More then likely she would try and learn 2 unit again before uni, if that manners.

any opinions would be great,

Thanks

The statistics unit (should she choose to do it - I don't know if it is compulsory) will require some understanding of mathematics but its all straightforward. I say to drop it (the General Maths) in order to focus on obtaining a better ATAR with her other subjects - depending on how many units she is doing.

Its compulsory.

And yes just focus on ATAR. There are always bridging courses and books that are designed for students to "catch up"

Unless shes going to smash General she might as well drop maths altogether.

Since when they mean assumed mathematics knowledge it means 2U. General is piss all.
