hey, in the text book they define the moment of inertia as

integral r^2 dm, but how do you use this to prove moments of inertia of rigid objects, i know they have a whole table of them in the textbook but you are meant to know to how to derive them somehow, for example how do you show that moment of inertia of a cylinder is (1/2) M R^2 ??

Thanks
