My name is Helen and I am currently studying the HSC. As a part of this, I am completing the Society and Culture course and my Personal Interest Project. This questionnaire will contribute to my research into the role of parents in the development of specialised skills. The questions below are based on the development of sporting ability.

The questionnaire should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Participants are welcome to ask for help or enquire about any of the questions.
If you wish to leave additional comments about specific question or answer, please do so in the space provided at the end of the questionnaire.

Participants are under no obligation to answer questions. If you are uncomfortable with a question or do not wish you answer it for any other reason, please leave it blank.

No. I am unable to identify with any people or events that have had an influence on my athletic development. I just play sports because it is something that I like doing.

My parents have not influenced the development of my athletic ability. they have shown an interest in it but even if they didn't I would still participate in athletic activities

ummm frends got me in2 oztag, since then ive luved 2 play footy...opportunity arose 2 play in the school soccer team, now im a-grade n havent looked back. teachers r always encouraging n suggestive so yeh...

my sister and my friends at school. played sports with them so it affected the choice of sports

my dad always talked about the fun he had playing soccer, and he payed for my sister and i to play in sports. my parents both encourages my siblings and i to play sports.
