I'm very unsure about what constitues plagiarism in the external exam. I know that if you use someone's past paper word for word that is obviously plagiarism, but is an academic's work plagiarism?

For example, I am memorising sentences by film critic/academic on his interpretation of Inglorious Bastards and through that I am linking it to my thesis of conflicting perspectives. Would that be considered plagiarism?

If you quote it and say where it's from, it's not plagiarism. If you are COPYING from ANYTHING without referencing, it is PLAGIARISM.

If you say that those are the ideas and words of the film critic and name him, then no. If you use this ideas and sentences without referencing it, then yes.

Just remember, a lot of HSC markers may have read the same film critics review and it will be obvious you plagiarised.

Ok now I'm freaking out because I really needed to pee during english, which is unfortunate because the time is limited for that exam but I really had to go. My advice, do not drink any liquids right before the exam which is what i did T___T
