Hey guys!:awesome: I am having some troubles :
a) Find x in terms of a and b if:
(a^2 b)/x^2 + (1+b/x)a = 2b + (a^2)/x

b) Simplify (2^(2n) - 2^(n-1))/(2^n - 2^-1)

c) Find smallest integers such that 12 < 2^m/n < 13

THANKS!!!!!

Hi, for (b), you factorise the top using 2^n

for part (a), is b/x just b /x or is it meant to be (1+b)/x? Just to clarify :haha:

EDit: could you possibly latex part (a), I'm getting weird results, so maybe i wrote it down wrong :/

I dont know what latex is :D but the only bit you might be writing down is first term, it should be a^2 b not 'a to the power of 2b', if you know what i mean.

hmm what do you mean for part b? factorise?

ok i got to the step before the quadratic equation, but i wanted something neat, so i wolfram alpha'd it and the solution was x and something else. so i wanted to know how to factorise that step.

I am pretty sure guys you use simultaneous equations for a) on matching sides i.e. (1+b/x)a=2b. (a^2 b)/x^2=(a^2)/x . PLease correct me if i am wrong.
