Jeez State ranks are so hard to achieve, but nonetheless achievable.

If anything I'd rather focus on getting into all rounders

I'm sort of like your friend at the moment in regards to 2 u marks this year

40 / 41

70 / 70

49 / 49

One more exam to go
congrats :)
I got similiar marks to u as well!
task 1 - 70/70
task 2- 59/60
task 3- 70/70
task 4- 45/45
do u think I could state rank??? (i go to a top 10 ranked school)

LOL

Of course you could

My school rank is 60 so I'm guessing with my marks I have no chance

All I'm aiming for is all rounders

if you're ranked 1st internally i think you could have a chance. Your school rank doesn't have to be the thing that holds you back from trying to achieve high

Hey guys,

I'm asking this on behalf of a friend.

Currently he's ranked 1st in 2U maths in a top 40 school and so far he's only dropped about 2 marks all together in his past three tests (so not including trials which are 40% of internal). Do you guys reckon he has it in him to get a state ranking assuming he goes really well in the trials and the external as well. I will be deeply thankful for any replies :spin:
Depends on the day, could get lucky, but unfortunately math state rankers are no-silly mistake making beasts. I lost 2 marks during my 3u HSC assessments 100%,99%,100%,99% got full marks few times for 3u HSC past papers didn't state rank. Also I averaged 112/120 for 4u HSC past papers and didn't state rank im guessing i got close though

probably can state rank if he can get 99%+ consistently in HSC past papers

Ok he got a 99 raw mark all up for the internals after doing all the assessments. State rank for 2U still possible?

well, he needs 100% in the final HSC, and then chances increase if he does 3U and gets close to 100% ie 99 or 98 i think.
State rank is purely on Externals i think, and when there are equal marks, then extension subjects are used to differentiate people.
They might have to consider internals if you are equal on a 100 with 5 people. Why consider 3 U for 2 u state rank>? :?

Nah, pretty sure internals aren't relevant.

According to Bos, "In the case of extension courses, marks awarded for other courses in the subject area are also taken into consideration when students are tied." Don't know if it applies for 2u math but definitely for ext 1 and ext 2.

I'm sure numerous people get 100 in the exam so it might be hard if those people are also on 100 internally

Someone state ranked with an internal mark of barely 90 last year and wasn't first internally. Pretty sure they have secrets measurements somewhere :O
