They sell trial papers to schools, so that teachers won't have to work so much to make the trials :D. It also gives the teachers some kind of "expectancy" on the class performance, compared to the whole state i guess..

because scaling in internals does nothing but boost a bit of self esteem since its all ranks anway. coming first with 50% is just as sexy as coming first with 95% :ninja:

it doesnt matter, if the school scales it or not. its only use is that it gives u an indication of your hsc exam mark, so u can make comparisons n what not.

so u only have a problem if certain people get their marks scaled at ur school and not everyone :p

ur ranks and differences between them in terms of marks will remain the same

That's the rumour anyway, doesn't mean it's true!
In the 2002 paper a friend of mine got 56% raw....

He got scaled to 93 i think

So yeh, its something along those lines...

EDIT: I think i might have underestimated the marks a little...
Its between 60 - 65 percent that u can be scaled into the 90s

havnt done my trial yet but my teacher bought the independant paper...
I go to a public school, and so far got 60% for both my test this year so far... my teacher only scaled it to 80:(
but if the hsc scales that high, i would be happy.
but my class consist of only 2 people including me. my teacher said because there is no competition in the class, our marks dont really count. he said he was going to post a good mark for us cause we can do it.... so i guess im happy;)
