Well... uni is harder than HSC

The only reason HSC is such a big deal is because you only get one shot at getting an ATAR (unless you intend to repeat Year 12). With uni, if you do bad in one semester, you can always bounce back.

I did well in finals but my internals dragged me done too much. The group assignments single handly shrektd me, should have chosen a half-decent group.

PHYS1160 wasn't hard, it just that I simply failed to put efforts in it. Well to be honest I believe they do try to mark harshly on some assessments like essay, discussion and short answer quiz, I guess they were trying to drag some people's mark down otherwise everyone would be getting full marks. but if you can consistently put adequate amount of efforts in every assessments then it's still a good wam booster.

But having said that, still lots of workload involved, especially that damn forum discussion thing, it felts like having two essays due every week, also marking criteria wasn't properly explained, you have no clue how many post or discussion you needed to get high marks.

I would say GENS5003 is way lot easier than PHSY1160, much less workload

Can you tell me what GENS5003 involves? I can't seem to find the course outline anywhere.

Thanks for the tip! I've heard from quite a few people now that astronomy isn't as easy as it use to be.

They might have introduced a couple more assessments, but it's still an easy course - I doubt it was that much easier before. I ended up with 90, which probably could have been higher if I had double checked my quiz and final test answers (via a google search). The course really just comes down to how well you can write an essay and short responses. True that there is a fair bit of work to do, but it would be naive to think a student could sit around and do nothing for 4 months can get a HD.

Do you know if Physics uses your raw overall mark as your final mark for the subject or does it calculate with scaling as your final mark?

I'm yet to do a Supp exam next week and would like to know this!

They take your supp exam mark and your original final mark and take the average which is then added onto your quizzes + labs /40 mark.

Not sure if there is some sort of aligning for 1121.

However 1131 did scale as there is no way I got over 85/120 in the final. I'm sure that max I could have gotten was 75-80/120.

People who did it few semesters ago told me the same thing as well.

Frankly I'm quite surprised that I still managed to get 72 when I didn't even read any single page of lecture note. So it's definitely a wam booster course. Only reason why I suspect they mark harshly now is because I put so much efforts in essays and discussion later in the course to try to compensate my low results in quizs and short answer quiz, but results weren't what I really expected. yeah but at the end I still got 72. So the course might not be as easy as it used to be, but still a very easy course. It's just the workload that really bothers you.

If I recall it correctly I believe GENS5003 has two essays, few extremely easy quiz, one mid(not sure about this one), and one final. Slightly easier content than Astronomy.

The only thing is that I didn't do the original exam and applied for a supplementary exam on that day so next week's supp exam is my first ever shot of the Physics finals.

ECON1101 - 82 - DN - Thought it'd be higher.
INFS1602 - 79 - DN - Just bs your way through the exam haha.
INFS1603 - 75 - DN - Considering I didn't study this until a week prior, hated the subject and had horrible assignment groups, I'm very happy.
