Hi all, i was wondering if anyone who has done these subjects can recommend some good textbooks/workbooks for these subjects...

I am considering buying the excel books for these subjects, any opinions/experiences people had with excel?

thanks ;)

For Economics Either Dixon or Riley are the best, Riley is more indepth, a bit tedious at times which means if you work hard you'll understand everything better whilst Dixon is clear concise and easier to understand. Both great books! Would not recommend EXCEL.

Excel's economics book is pretty much rubbish as it's very brief although the exercise questions are somewhat useful. If you can get your hands on one from your local/school library I would suggest taking photos/scanning/photocopying of the practice questions. As for an actual text book to use there is either by:
1. Tim Dixon + John O'Mahony
2. Tim Riley
that I would recommend. I think for prelims I would go with Dixon as it's easier to understand in my opinion. Some people say that both used in conjunction is a good idea however not absolutely necessary (I would suggest doing that in the HSC course though). If you do use Dixon, do complete the chapter review questions (like you would in maths once you finish a topic) to ensure that you fully understand the concepts because it is pretty important that you do. There is a work book that can be purchased separately by the way.

As for business, I personally did like the excel guide for this because there's is a sufficient amount of information under each dot point however I know some people prefer using actual text books. I know my prelim teacher used Business Studies in Action but I've heard that there's a lot of unnecessary BS in there.

For Economics, I suggest - Dixon, Riley and you can also look into Creative Economics (it's underrated imo).

For Business Studies, Business In Action (Jacaranda) and Cambridge are good.
