PwC seems alot more flexible than the other firms (i really want to do the sandwich program...im not sure if ey offers that though)...and i dunno lol seems like its alot more relaxed environment as well haha. everyones superduper frendly :)
Hey I got an offer yesterday for PwC too in Biz Assurance, although I'm not 100% sure that I wouldn't prefer the normal uni life doing Comm/Int'l Studies (intl studies just for general interest and Commerce to get me a job later). Do you know the exact details of sandwhich program... cos sum1 told me it was 6mts+6 mths per yr and I read somewhere else it was full time work for the first yr and then 6+6 for the other 3 years.

Also is there any possibility that we don't have to start working full time from the beginning of next year in Jan or Feb. As in I know at EY you can apply now and still start in your 2nd year of uni after having a whole yr of full-time uni, but the guarantee now that you've got a job later. Because I'd prefer to enjoy my first year rather than my last two at uni. But yeah ... I didn't get EY either...

Last thing . how long does it take to do double degree at EY, cos Com Law is already 5 yrs FT... PT it would be 7 im guessin? that's quite a while

Doesn't BA start in July for PwC anyway?

You'll have to ask some of those questions to your HR contact.

Congrats on the offer btw :)

Oh and sandwich is instead of doing 2+2 (2 years FT, 2 years PT), you mix them together.

PT, FT, PT, FT, etc...

congratz!!

have you received the contract through the mail yet? im a bit confused though. originally i had thought that it was completely your choice to do 2+2 or sandwich. the contract seems to imply that your sort of have to be eligible to do the sandwich program...like they'll review your progress of smth?

but either way with PwC i think most of them are starting now (EY cadets all start in the beginning of the year from semester 1).

ifsonotso: if they dont call soon give them a call maybe? im pretty sure all interviews are done so now they would definetly be at the stage of contacting everyone.

yeah i just got it today ... and yeah I thought the same thing about sandwich .. cos i'm pretty sure I would rather the sandwich now ... but it does seem to be like its a privilege which only some cadets can get. I'm not 100% I rang and asked them .. n she said that every1 signs the same contract but once you sign, they can make an amendment to the contract.

Does anyone know if the PCS division of FA division starts in July as well or is it only BA that does.
Hopefully I'll see you next thursday on that celebration thing

Six years to do a double at EY.

First two years full time work & part time study, next two years full time uni & work during vacations, last two years full time study and part time work.

This is the general way it works, but EY is very flexible with how uni and work goes together...you could probably find you could do it any way you really wanted as long as you discussed it with them and did do a substantial amount of full time work.

Anyways...don't want to litter the PwC thread with EY hype. Sometimes it just cant be helped...

A few of my friends are on Sandwich (from various levels of cadetship)- I think you just need to talk to your SDP about this?

As for FA:pCS- I think they start in July because some of them started with me; but then, can't really say for sure since PCS is a new division as the result of the restructuring.

have you been sent out to client yet?
Are you enjoying it?

Started two weeks ago (July 3rd), today was first day of real client work (in the city)- obviously no names for confidentiality reasons. All I can say is- I wish we could do easy stuff like photocopying and coffee making; but instead, they really do put us on the proper work! It's enjoyable because you feel like you're doing something worthwhile (which you are), and you actually do leave your name in the Audit File under whichever sections and steps you edit/completed; however it really does you to think so you can't just expect to rock up, photocopy stuff all day, and then go home without anything more to think about.

Overall though, I'm enjoying it. It's my first real job so I'm still adjusting to the environment (ie. wearing a suit 9-5) but I have to admit, it's been a good experience. The people are so friendly and supportive, not to mention understanding that I'm a trainee. Surprisingly, noone has made any undergraduate jokes yet! :)

Btw, are any of you guys coming on Thursday evening's Mocktail Party?

lol pwc...

Why is it they have all these strange names for their divisions.

I mean..."Customer"?? My friend was in that over the summer.

"Hi, I'm working in Customer"

lol sorry just felt I should balance the pro PwC atmosphere.

Customer? What are you talking about...?

The closest I can think of is PCS (Private Company Services?) which was only established last month-

hm.. customer must be a melbourne office thing.

Hey have you all seen those stupid people on the PwC recruitment paraphenalia? Especially that dork on the pogo stick lol. I feel sorry for that guy, PwC has turned him into a clown.

I swear Accounting Career Marketing is starting to hurt the profession. Its making it a laughing stock.

I'm really quite curious what it is... if you're bored, check out the PwC website and try to find out what it's called. Maybe it's a new specialist division or something? *shrugs*

As for the recruitment advertisements- I think it's meant to say that PwC is a fun place to work at, and people aren't afraid to enjoy themselves? That was my personal interpretation anyway- funnily enough, some (or maybe all?) of those people are actually partners.
