Problem with enrolment! what da hell do i DO!! :( (1 Viewer)

Hello peple i finally enrolled it took like 7 hours! BLOODLY HELL!

ok..... i got only 3 exemptions for MTKG101, BBA102 and ISYS123 which left me with 5 more cores at 100 level

so the exemptions officer put 200 level units in my timetable aswell so this semester im going 2 100 level units and 2 200 level units ... and next semester im doing 3 100 level units and ones 200 level unit.

Is this going to be REALLY hard for me since i havent even done anything yet in uni doing both 100 and 200 level at the same time?

Im thinking of just doing my 100 level subjects this year with one 200 level this semester as i need at least 3 subjects to be a full time student, do you think this is a good option? And how to i go by withdrawing for the units in which they enrolled me in...

THIS IS WHAT THEY ENROLLED ME IN

2 x 100 level units + 2 x 200 level units = For 1st semester

3 x 100 level units + 1 x 200 level = For 2nd semester

This is what i want to do:

3 x 100 level units = for 2nd semester

so what do i need to do, would i be able to change it all around? or should i just leave it as it is? what do you guys reckon... is it gonna be real hard doing 100 level + 200 level at the same time? ARGH

To be honest, you sound like you've already got a good work ethic, and the 200 level shouldn't be too much of a step for you

Well, if you feel you're not coping, there is a certain date, I think at the end of March before the Census date you can withdraw without penalty.

and how can i go by changing a subject... i want to change one in my 1st semester and change one in my 2nd semester... should i go to MACQ asap or can i do it over the phone?

During the first few weeks of uni, there'll be a Change of Program session usually held in E7B Atrium. You fill out a form, get appropriate signatures if needed, and then go line up to wait on a computer to drop/change/add subjects. They'll print off a new timetable for you and you're done.

Make sure you have all class times filled out as well before you go.

I think im going to drop the 200 level subjects and just do the 100 level ones this year, till i get the hang of how uni is and stuff. I might talk to the course advisor and see how much the workload will be and see if im ok with doing both levels.. hmmm.. i might go macquarie today .. or maybe tomorrow lol

I would. I did 3 last sem, and it was awesome.

This whole business about overloading=1337 is such a load of hogswallosh. You just end up getting bad marks, getting overly stressed, and generally having a bad time. If he thinks he can only do x amount, that's what's needed.

Thanks.. yeah.. i dunno how hard uni is going to be.. i think i will try for 4units including the 200 level subject and if it gets to hectic ill pull out before the census date.. so i won't get financial penalty .. you think thats a better idea?

I'm not big on the whole commerce/finance/business scene.

That being said, remember a few things:

1. Doing a business degree done in 4 years with high credits will be better than a business degree done in 3 years with fails/passes/credits. Don't feel rushed for whatever reason. Who gives a shit if you take a bit longer to complete your degree? Hopefully, you'll get a semi-professional job near the end of your degree, anyway.

2. Don't feel you have to prove yourself to anyone -- to your family, to your friends, or to us. Personally, I'm not impressed when someone overloads, especially if they want to say 'hey, I got a UAI of 40, and now look at me! I'm doing FOUR uni subjects'.

3. Will you be doing any work at the same time?

4. Will you be travelling far?

5. Do you think that doing x unit done in first sem (say, math111) will help y unit done in second sem (say, econ111)? The example is too explicit, but you get the idea. Doing PHIL132 really helped me with HIST243, because there were a lot of philosophical questions. Does that make sense?

6. Do you think that doing x unit is not only important because it's a prerequisite, but because it'll lay foundations of y unit? For example, math111 may be the prereq for econ111: However, you should not only view it as something to 'do', but something to do well. If you're going to be usuing the skills in math111 throughout your degree, you should do it well so you understand everything later on.

7. If you change your units, remember to re-arrange your timetable to best suit your new situation. Don't be affraid to contact a lecturer if a class is full and you need it.

8. Dont' be affraid to talk frankly with everyone on how you're going -- your convener and tutor would be the best. They are usually very good when it comes to general advice.

hmmm.. im really thinking about what your saying.....

i really wouldnt mind for 4 uni subs its just having so much of a workload is what im affraid of ... my family is saying to stick with doing 4 .. im thinking just for this year for 3 subs for the two semesters .. and leave my 2nd year subs for next year..

but then again i really wouldnt mind finishing earlier.. arrghh so much decisions

Doing a 3 unit Semester is fine, most people take one at other times due to workload.

This is what my plan is

I have my 3 cores this semester plus a 200 level subject which is Intro to International Business which is only one lecture at 6 to 7.55 ... no tutes ... soooo i think i'll try it out and see how it goes ... if i cant handle everything then i'll back out from Intro to International business and stick with the cores meaning only 3 subjects for the semester doing all this before the census date... but if i CAN handle it .. then i'll stick with it ..

i heard ACST101 is real HARD .. and i think ill withdraw from that and do SOC175 .. really hate maths and like essay writing.

the majority of acst101 is maths, and applying it to fnancial stuff like loans, bonds, annuities, superannuation shares, etc....

I am so confused about this, what is the difference between credit for previous studies and exemptions? I had a whole load of questions at enrollment but the academic advisor couldn't answer any of them.

Can anyone tell me if I should also get exemptions? I did four subjects for non awards, subjects such as ABST100 and SOC175... these could go as credit towards the elective subjects i have to do for arts/psychology. So am i supposed to get exemptions for these? Previous non-awards students HELP!

i did general maths in high school and i think that it isnt enought to do ACST101.. i can imagine me being fully WTF... SOC175 it is! LOL

i think ACST101 is 2unit maths related.. even more of a no go zone

noo not that much workload i just turned up at tutes, didn't go to lectures much and i got credit average... but it's a really boring subject
