i got most of this question out but i can seem to get the calculations out... here

T is the time for a lift through a shaft in the Earth to travel to one side to the other side of the surface and G is the gravitational force while M is the mass of the Earth gives

T = pi Sqrt[R^3/2GM]

G= 6.6 x 10^11 Mm^2/kg
R = 6.37 x 10^6 m
M = 5.98 x 10^24 kg

the answer is apparently something like a little less than half an hour but i get something really small.

well G [gravitational constant] = 6.67 x 10-11 Nm2kg-2
