That sucked!! i worked out that PQ = -4, but then i couldnt cancel out the p + q...so my locus didnt eliminate the parameters
and also in question 4ciii....how many weeks was it?

i had 30 weeks, or >29 weeks..

pq=-4 Im guessing you found the gradients as p and q instead of p/2 and q/2.. a surprising number of people did that, so don't worry.

ok, i accept what you're saying...but uh, why is it p/2 and q/2?

Gradient of OP = (ap^2 - 0)/2ap = p/2

similarly for OQ

yeh the locus was y= -a (ie the directrix)
at least i think thats what i got

i just realised im retareded and worked it out that the tides occur an hour later at the harbour not an hour earlier

DAMNIT

i couldnt do 4ciii, i just left it out coz i was gonna go back to it.. of course i had no time at all
