Not particularly impressed by this year's question 8, it was just a series (literally) of gimmicks and not much insight or satisfaction is gained by doing them. But anyway I felt like writing it since my students did theirs today.

The barrier to getting 8d) was whether or not the student notices the word "monic" at the top of the question page...however given enough time one can muck around with the 8cii) result and realise they need more than just any polynomial to establish the contradiction via the bounded nature of |x+1/x|, having just 1+|c_n| as 1+M wouldn't suffice ...then they look at what was so special about the journey through 8c i) (if they attempted it)...then voila!

Minor correction: "M" in the last part is not 1, it just has absolute value at most 1.
