Into Australian domestic law.

Is there a specific list that shows what Australia has signed/ratified, and what Australia has actually passed as domestic law?

Also, are signed and ratified the same thing?

i think signing is just signing it, showing that the nation is happy to ratify the law. its not ratified till it goes through parliament

Ah, thankyou very much.
The fact that only the US and Somalia have not ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child is much more striking now.

and nice signature xD.
And random fact, I changed to a public school this year so I wouldn't have to do SoR xD.

I don't think there is a specific list but I may be wrong. This link has some of th latest conventions ccentred around the issue of terrorism...

Signing is just basically signing the convention without any solid implementation. Ratifying is the process by which the State implements the conditions of the Convention into the nation's domestic laws. Any example of such would be the Convention on the Rights of a Child [CROC], Australia signed this convention and since then has taken its concepts into its domestic law e.g. the concept of best interests of a child and the concept of education.

Thankyou for the link, and the signing/ratification.
Though I do beg to differ, Australia also violates CROC with the treatment of refugee children. Article 33 [or 37] of CROC states that a child must only be imprisoned as a last resort, and for the shortest period of time possible, yet if a refugee child's parents are placed in a detention centre, the child/ren is/are too, for years on occasions.
Thanks, though =]

Edit;
I seem to have found a list for UNESCO: http://erc.unesco.org/cp/conventions_by_country.asp?contr=AU&language=E&typeconv=1

O yes that is actually a contemporary human rights issue in Australia [referring to the treatment of refugee children].

And I've answered my own question some more: http://www.unhchr.ch/pdf/report.pdf

The SoR reference is in reply to your bagging Catholic schools.
The nice signature is for the pic =]
