how important is it to talk about the variants in for example Christianity?

in my CSSA trial i got 15/20 for the christianity essay and i got 17/20 for the religion and peace essay because i didn't mention variants.
i looked at the marking criteria but didn't find anything exactly relating to the variants.

so is it that important for section 3 and 5
