Hello! Just need to ask a couple of questions:

1. Is your ATAR calculated by the average of your HSC mark and your internals?

2. If a person is ranked say, 3-4 in a class, but does better and gets ranked 1st externally, does that mean their mark is changed?

3. When you receive that text message or look at the BOSTES marks, are the bands given to you for the subject, is that overall or just for the final examination?

Moderated by BOSTES. You have to buy your raw marks.

You will never know the exact scaling of your marks since this is done by UAC. However, BOSTES gives you back aligned marks which is an adjusted mark.

So, lemme get this straight, and do tell me if I'm correct on my understanding. So, basically, you do your internals which is 50%. That is moderated and is 50%. And then you do the final examination which is another 50%. The raw mark comes from the exam and that is scaled or aligned. These two numbers are brought together and divided by 2 and that is the HSC mark??? Then all these HSC marks come together and they get an average?

Average these two marks and this will give you the HSC mark and does this for all your subjects. These 3 different marks for all your subjects are published to you by BOSTES before the atar. UAC takes the raw mark is scales your final raw mark which is combining your exam raw mark and raw assessment mark (not internal). UAC will do this for all your subjects, choose the best 10 units and add up the total to calculate your aggregate mark out of 500. This aggregate mark is your ATAR, which is why your hsc results are irrelevant to your ATAR because UAC and BOSTES do calculations differently. You can determine scaling for your year when UAC publishes its stats.
