but yeah. while we individually and collectively identify one anothers 'group'/subculture\whatever, its not extremely obvious from the outside apart from an emo and a few wankers.

In my year level we only have a few groups

my group - the popular group (don't mean to sound stuck up, but there are onl;y 2 other girl groups and they are not popular)

the skanky, bitchy, wannabe us group

the girls who sit in the libary day in day out and chat with the libarian

the footy player boys

the wierd boys (they don't really fit into any category)

the musican boys (L)

thats all i can think of at the moment

sadly, i do. :( lol

But that term is mainly a westy/south term, so i doubt many northsiders/eastsider people recognise that term. Lucky for them :/

Yeah, definitely. In our Junior years the groups were more evident. But now certain cliques and peer groups have fused together. It is still noticeable, but not as distinct. If we were to actually group the people, it'd be:

Asian girls
Soccer guys
Nerdy (but cool) guys
Nerdy (but uncool) guys.
The Curry Group (which I believe is divided into two groups)
The Argumentative group (consisting of Greeks, Caucasians, Hispanic)
The randoms
et al (don't recall the other groups)

At current, it's not as noticeable as the first 4 groups have basically fused to form a big 'superpower' (lol) after people started leaving for other schools and what not. In class, everyone gets along very well (especially since the start of our Senior years) and I guess it's because everyone is maturing.

Yeah, we have two really broad groups. The Asians, and everyone else. I'd say we're pretty close to each other.

I have a very divided year but not according to race, or culture or anything like that. We just dont get along. Pretty sad hey. But no the groups dont really have cliche titles or anything like that.

wth...I didn't know nerdy guys could be cool...

Anyway, my school is dividied like the followings:
  • random groups (30% belong here)
  • academic students group 1 (top in maths, commerce, science, computer)
  • academic students group 2 (top in history, english, religion)
  • non-academic group
  • sporty group 1 (rugby)
  • sporty group 2 (soccer)
  • playboy group
  • gangsta group
  • gangsta wanna-be group (most pathetic group)
  • band group (usually emos)

it makes me giggle that you seperate the academic groups.
=d because, at my school, im top in all the socil sciences and english
and my friend laura is top in maths and science.
so i just pictured picture a group of like, 6 sonyas and another of 6 lauras having a gang war xD

not being rude or anything, it was just a funny image. i find it interesting you have such distinct groups though, but then again, my year group is tiny.

MY GRADE IS PRETTY MUCH A GROUP!

We're all so tightknit and get along well.

Like a big family of 228 girls.

Obviously we have seperate friendship groups, but we're all together if you know what I mean.

Groups were formed from like yr 7 classes, with the moving and swapping of friends in groups due to .. i dunno.

All Year 12's pretty much sit in the quad together, ever since our damn school kicked us out of the senior area to make room for juniors, and also so we could tan during third term :)

Yeah, one tightknit grade group, but at the same time, we all have our little cliques.

Everybody here gets along pretty good with one another. :) There's always one or two exceptions though.
