You're obviously not an actor because if you were, how would you feel if your asian face made it impossible for you to find work. Your race makes it impossible for you to persue the career that you love. Look, it's going to happen whether the majority likes it or not. You can only get pissed on for so long really, asian-australians will get their voice....asians pretty much get treated like the model minority....quite little submissive workers who help in running the country but aren't really taken seriously because they can't do anything else other than maths. That's our place. This is a comfortable viewpoint for most of the white majority......if asians were seen as multi-dimensional people, then it would be far too threatening. Noone wants more competition. It's like how blacks are depicted in American media.... ..all Neanderthal like ghetto thugs, who can't do anything expect dribble a basketball, run or rap. If they were potrayed as intellectual, hard-working citizens, yep, far too threatening so they never are. It's going to happen (sooner even maybe than later)....it justs takes people to speak out about it and for people to care. In western society, you have to earn eveything...noone is going to give it to you.

For example, one of Australia's finest young talents, Leonardo Nam ('The Perfect Score') who is appearing in 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' series (in a role written for a white guy as well), 'Half-Life', 'Undoing', and 'The Fast and the Furious 3', couldn't get work here:

http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/475/475967p1.html

-The Australian-bred actor of Korean descent is decidedly more animated than his on screen counterpart, the perpetually stoned, academic under-achiever Roy. Born in Argentina, Leo moved to Australia at the age of six and took up acting at a young age. While he got good reviews for his work, he found the options for Asian actors in Australia to be few and far between. "I had to get out of Sydney. All of the TV shows in Australia are imported from the U.S. or England and those shows that were made in Australia are all blonde-haired and blue-eyed. Of course, everyone is blonde-haired, blue-eyed in Australia, right?" Nam grins.

"I was studying with this lady and I'd go to see these producers and I'd read for them or whatever and they'd all be like, 'You're great... but we don't have anything for you.' I'd always be like the takeaway kid from the Chinese food store even though I'm Korean. Go figure. That kind of thing still happens here in the movies and stuff but at a much more extreme micro-scale. That's what Australian film and TV was like. It was before Fox moved over and The Matrix was there so I kind of had to go through my own right of passage. One day she told me, 'I've booked you an audition in New York.' Next thing I knew, I was stepping off a plane and it just felt right."-

i agree, i think you have a fair point there.

Ok then can you explain what a 'race' is?
Can you tell me what the different characteristics of a different race is?

You cannot. It is a made up, invented way to differentiate between humans.
You're full of shit.

I presume you don't deny that "life" is a fact. Well try and define exactly when it begins and ends.

Just because you can't define something exactly doesn't mean it isn't there.

The parallel of the analogy. We can safely say that someone who was vapourised in an explosion is no longer living but we can not say for sure that a foetus is not where life begins.

In the same way we can be sure that Anglo-Saxons are a different race to Chinese but can't say that the Ukranians and Russians are different.

what a sheltered life you lead. believe it or not, you can learn all sorts of things from school, not just the basic K-12 syllabus.

no he has a fair point. You aren't on the same wavelength as him and he is not "full of shit". By the definition of race, hes saying that race is a concept, learnt through experiences in life. You begin to learn from certain outlets (media for example) that you belong to a certain group, hence the notion of race develops as such. If there was nothing to allude to ideas about race, then the idea of "race" would not exist, and hence rascism wouldn't develop. Like someone suggested before, no one is actually born rascist, but instead they have to be taught rascist ideas.

... maybe thats not the best attitude to take. Its not "us" against "them". Its not brilliant to go on and create divisions between races

And i assume you're a hsc student, who has no concept past the imperial age of the movements in society on the areas of sociology, cultural studies and anthropology.

But then you are just taking relative differences within the race. If you take small enough increments A is the same race as B, then eventually you reach the condition where someone like myself is the same as one of many "races" of China.

No matter which approach to take race it will be flawed. You can take commonly found genetic patterns in a race but then some will lack them within that race, or others may have them out of that race (I highly doubt a great great great grandmother of one race makes you that race, otherwise we are all African).

I think pretty much everyone around would have experienced racial prejudice at one stage or another. I've had rocks and bottles thrown at me for being white, been verbally abused, and whatever else. It's a reasonable assumption to make that no matter what race you are there will always be morons who think that the fact that it's not the same as theirs is a good reason to give you shit.

Everyone has the right to live in Australia as long as they obey the laws and dont consider themselves a group or gang or as "Supercharged" favourite word a minority. Once u do that then ur saying that ur a group sitting on the fence. That the other people are australians and that ur a specialist group. If you come and live here- your one or the other. You cant switch back and forward when it suits you. One moment ur this minority group whos being picked on because there not on tv, and all the "Aussies" in the media are racist and the next minute ur saying ur an australian. So are u one of the those racist aussies are you. Honestly like everyone said. If you wanna see Asians on TV go and live in an asian country. Just MAke ur damn mind up.
I accept all races but i hate people like supercharged who are just determined to argue because they want symphathy. They want someone to feel sorry for them. Supercharged i think if anyones racist its u becuase u segregate everyone into groups. Arent we all aussies? If ur one of those numbers in the census that u keep pulling out then arent u aussie. If u dont wanna be then this aint the country for u.

And ill tell u one thing. Where not americans. So why make the comparison.

if u wanna see asian tv just get satellite tv, i'm not even asian and i have asian tv, the main thing is everything is actually avaliable to everyone after they want it, it's just that they shouldnt go around making a big deal or disturbing other so called 'ethnic' or 'australian' people, we all fuckin live here so therefore we should all have respect for eachother, on this point at least, if nobody want's to live here in peace they should all resign from their citizenship, wether they are from an ethnic background or wether they are purely australian or wether they are aboriginal, our nationality is AUSTRALIAN peoples, therfore we should all be australian together, how do people think australia will ever be strong if nobody living here actually unites?

Well said. Just the point i wanted to get across. If u wanna live here whether u came here in a boat, plane it doesnt matter. OR u were born. Then u accept that ur aussie. If u dont wanna be aussie and want to segregate urself, believing ur above the law and hangiong out in low life gangs (now im not specifiying race- cause u see all races do it) just looking for trouble. Like faggots who hang around in groups of 20 on corners at night trying to find a fight. Yelling at people "what did u say.." Just get out. Dont care what race. Thats not aussie. And if someone says something back there suddenly discriminating and racist. But are u Australian. If thats what it says on ur birth certificate, Visa whatever. Im lost...are they being racist. Or were u asking for it by segregating urself into a racial circle or gang who were out looking for trouble. Got caught and then lent back on the good old "There being racist" quote. Thats getting old...but hold arent u saying ur aussie. So what race were they being discriminate against???

It is not a one way street, but racist acts of Lebanese against Whites isn't the same as Whites against Lebanese. To deny this is to deny history has any effect on the future.

The "race riots" were a result of Lebanese male youth culture, clashing with the ideological errors and cultural errors of the White majority. This White mentality is the remnants of the colonial system, the culture and ideology were never completly destroyed. When tensions rise these two groups cause a contradiction and clash. The only way to completly stop this is the correcting of these errors.

But i would like to remind people that it was only a few weeks ago that we seen many people from many national backgrounds marching in uniting against the IR laws.

PS: I hate the word Aussie, and i hate it even more now. "True blue Aussie" yeah get a real job you cheap hack news reporter.
