i recieved the ranks and marks for my half yearlies. i came 5th out for 25ish with an 86

what i noticed is that:
1st got 97
2nd got 93
3rd got 90
4th got 88
5th got 86.

now after me at 5th, the next mark was 79...and it kept going down to around 20th at 56 then the next 5 were in the 40s.

is this good or bad? for scaling and all that stuff.

Your ranks actually sound incredibly similar to my class, but there are slight differences . We do almost exactly the same subjects! It seems as if your software class is quite a strong cohort, unless ofcourse, the teacher set piss easy exams.

This will sound embarrasing.
First place averages around 85-95
Second 75-85
Third 65-75
fourth 55-65 (ME)
fifth 50-60
sixth 30-45.

I have only 6 kids in my class.
My teacher would have to be the worst teacher in the state.
She didnt want to teach us 2's compliment because she thought it was irrelevant, when in actual fact it was because she didnt know how to do it
