Hi everyone,

I do apologise.
I know this has been covered 1000 times, but I'm still unsure about the ranking.

In my legal studies class, I am first out of three other kids. It's also by a significant amount, too. My assessments have been in the 90s, whereas all of theirs have been in the low / high 70s.

Will this affect my ranking?
As in, if I do get the highest external mark, will my internal mark be changed to whoever comes second in the exam?

Thanks.

If you get the highest external mark and you remain first internally, you will have your HSC exam mark allocated to your internal mark as well as your external mark.

If you achieve the highest school mark, you will be ranked first.

For the HSC exam, since you are first, you will receive the highest exam mark for your assessment mark + your own HSC exam mark. (this gets averaged to yield your final HSC mark)

So if you achieve the highest exam mark, essentially, that's your final HSC mark.

Thanks guys.
So, say for instance:

Student A = 1st
Student B =2nd

Student A = exam 90
Student B = exam 70

Does that mean Student A gets student B's exam mark as their internal assessment mark?

Thank you.

No wrong, student A will get 90 as his assessment mark and also 90 for his exam mark. so this becomes 90+90/2= 90 HSC.

SO its good that your ranked first, just work hard for your HSC, then you will get the highest assignment and HSC mark, if your ranked first and also smashed the HSC exam.

Student B, would get 70 as his assignment and what ever he achieved in the HSC exam would be his own exam mark.

Nope! You're all good.

Because you're first the sky is your limit, if you're first it doesn't matter what the other two get, you essentially get your own mark.
