Unsw and Unsw only. You never know, one day you may aim for mbb and bbib. Don't limit your opportunities.
dont think even that is so constrained. i know someone at top 3 consulting from uts undergrad (not commerce) and macquarie MBA

ok let's all live in la-la-land where every university is the same and equally talented people have an equal chance at any job regardless of what university they came from because obviously the teaching curriculums, teaching quality, general reputation, etc. at unsw and usyd is exactly the same calibre as uws or whatever
Aye, how about everyone be the next UNSW commerce grad who has a sook because they couldn't get a grad job just because they came from UNSW. University rep in Australia is retarded. :D

Do you mean it's retarded in that it shouldn't exist, or are you saying that it actually doesn't exist?

If it's the former then I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you think it's dumb or not because it still exists and you'll need to work around it/use it to your advantage (depending on where you are).

If it's the latter, then I think you'll find that you are mistaken.

To an extent, university 'reputation' does exist.

However, what is way more important than university 'reputation' is the generally greater opportunities at the more 'reputable' universities.

If we look at management consulting:
- Statistically, MBB have somewhat of a preference for USYD/UNSW but of course there are Macquarie/UTS exceptions. This means a better alumni network in consulting.
- Generally, there are more case competitions at USYD/UNSW compared to the other universities.
- Generally, there are more consulting clubs/societies at USYD/UNSW compared to the other universities. For example, while UTS has BusinessOne consulting, UNSW has 180 Degrees, BusinessOne, UCC and UMCG.
- Consulting firms probably sponsor more USYD/UNSW clubs than at other universities.

Opportunities encompass, but are not limited to, things such as speaking with people who've been there and done that, societies/clubs, networking events, firm presentations/events, internships, alumni, etc.

HOWEVER, it is up to you to join these case competitions, consulting clubs and attend networking events.

University reputation practically means nothing if all you do is go to university just for classes, go home straight away to study for the rest of the day and don't take advantage of the opportunities before you.
