uhh i'll try to answer this one, as i do physics. However, this may or may not be right, don't take it to be at all right.

The difference between a real and a virtual image is that a real image is well....real. Its the image that you see with your eyes, and its thus accurate. A virutal image is the image that you would see of a mirror, which is reflected off the mirror into your own eyes. Its a virtual image because of that.

Check with someone else to see if thats right.

this is a stab as i havent researched but could virtual having something to do with electronic pictures generated by the collection of data from scans? E.g Ultrasound, xrays?

virtual images are created when your brain creates (and hence imagines an image) by tracing the apparent straight line of sight, even if its been reflected.

real images are actually...there, and can be imposed on other objects such as a projector screen as it's not imagined

The guy's doing preliminary physics, so i'm 100% positive that virtual relates to mirrors, because i already did mirrors, and virtual and real images are in there.

Quit confusing the guy.

Real image - a projection

Virtual image - a reflection

basically. according my physics teacher.

edit: STUFF THAT ACTUALLY EXISTS IS NOT CONSIDERED AN IMAGE

Once again, according to my physics teacher.
