Recommend me a netbook (1 Viewer)

So I was really bored today in my study period and thought my time would be better spent playing CS 1.6 rather than studying. I could stop by Officeworks or DSE tomorrow and buy one but I don't know what to choose :-(

Recommend me something for about $400-500 (cheaper is better because I'm also saving up for a motorcycle). I'd prefer a dual core (N550) and higher res screen (1366x720).

You will not be able to get a dual core netbook, or a higher resolution screen for under $500, probably let alone below $700. Just get one with an Atom processor which thinks it has two cores - works great for me (I'm using one now - soon to upgrade to MacBook Pro).

I would probably recommend going with hp, because they are getting pretty pro with netbooks and the battery life can be rather impressive.

Great key size though. When normally typing. Brackets and the like are abit annoying.

The Acer D255 is $399 and has a dual core N255 but the screen res is only 1024x768 :-(

There are a couple of dual core netbooks for about the same price but I can't find any with higher res.

Though seriously, try PCWorld and read reviews. That's how I picked up my Toshiba NB300, or was made aware of it at least.

Get an ASUS 1215N, should be able to get it for around $600. It'll play games.

I remember reading somewhere (maybe Whirlpool) that manufacturers aren't too keen on on dual processors for netbooks anymore because they think it will start eating into the more profitable laptop/notebook market.

Well get a laptop, moron. Most vendors aren't even into N550 market yet and your minimum screen size avoids the whole point of getting a netbook.

I want to be able to browse the interwebs and write notes and stuff without wanting to smash the keyboard. N550 netbooks would still be slow but they don't cost much more than N450 ones (about $50).

And who told you that you need a dual core to be able to do this? Just pop in an extra gb of ram into an N450 if you experience a bit of lag.

N550 netbooks would still be slow but they don't cost much more than N450 ones (about $50).

Well if you're so sure then go buy one. There can't be that many models out there anyway so I don't know why you're asking us.

Why? Because I've had it for a year now and I haven't been disappointed.
