When it comes to books which actually teach the concepts, what is recommended?

Cambridge 3U for maths for sure.

I've got jacaranda for physics and chemistry and they seem pretty good as well.

Id say all of them, thats what they're for. go into a book store and have a look at books people have recommened, Look at an important concept (differentiation for example) whichever has the explanation that you like most go with that one but thats all up to you.

FOr maths id recommend cambridge but thats me

Really depends, but some books are concise while some books have a lot of extra information.
E.g. Physics in Focus (concise but short) vs Jacaranda (very detailed with extra info that may not be important) for Physics

For Mathematics, most people would recommend Cambridge for 3U but I think I like fitzpatrick as well for 3U and especially 2U.
Terry Lee 4U is my recommendation for 4U if you plan on doing it.

I'd recommend excel physics. It's not that good to actually learn from but I found it really beneficial when it came to revising for yearlies - I just read through the entire thing once or twice and it just jogged my memory and made it easy to work out the areas I had to improve in.

Honestly, for economics, you can pretty much wing it without a text book. Like I had dixon, but I never used it because he kinda waffled a lot. I winged it and still came 2nd.

You probably will have time to read through them & do some questions but it depends on how well you manage your time. Try to spread your work out & don't do it at the last minute.

Jacaranda is a bit of a tl;dr textbook.

Get the Surfing Series for an easy and strong understanding of everything, then use Jacaranda to fill in the details.

3U - Cambridge/Fitzpatrick and maybe Coroneos depending on your font appetite.

Physics - Jacaranda/In2Physics/Physics in Focus
