My school seems to keep on getting the Physics textbooks wrong then as in Year 12 they provide you with Jacaranda as a core textbook. Argh, I feel screwed for Physics :burn:

Hey better they give you Jacaranda in Year 12, instead of not giving you Jacaranda at all.

And yeah... I'd like to know what BCS is as well.

BCS?

Some theory about superconductors in the topic From Ideas to Implementation. I really have no more idea about it. Perhaps a Yr 12 Physics student can enlighten us.

BCS (Bardeen, Cooper, Shockley)- basically a theory using quantum mechanics to explain the characteristics of a superconducter i.e. resistance.

As an electron enters a metal lattice it distorts it, creating a positive region. Another electron is then drawn into the positive region in which 'Phonons' (sound energy created by super sonic vibration) hold the 2 electrons together and they pass through the lattice unimpeded. The pairing are called cooper pairs.. something like that

Very interesting topic is I2I, not as good as quanta to quarks though

Anyone getting textbooks for year 12? Or are you guys waiting until we actually start Year 12 before you guys get anything.

i find physics very interesting, especially special relativity e.g. time travels differently depending upon how fast u travel. since speed of light is constant, S=D/T therefore Constant=D/T i.e. distance and time are relative. Quantum is good 2

I already have Physics Jacaranda Year 12 and Physics Success One. Bought last I think.

i'd recommend the Dotpoint Phys MC Textbook, for the lazy ones

really saved my ass in the trials this year =)

yer dop point book is good, success one also.

I'm thinking of getting the excel book, and I'm sure my school will give me the KISS Physics notes.

I didn't really think they were that great for maths x). but then i barely used them.

For like Year 5/6 - I thought it was good.

I have excel and maquire revising books for all of my subjects. But i find the text book my school gave me "conquering chemistry 3rd edition(4th edition basically the same)" much better and detailed then the Chem-Excel book.

But when it comes to the problem solving and moles, Excel taugt me best in those areas.

For theory its best to stick with the Conquering chemistry book.


Any suggestion on text books for Biology ?
