Hi everyone it might be stupid question but i was just wandering if anyone knows if i drive a manual car on a red P auto license, what is the penalty if i get caught, and are there any demerit points for that or its just the fine. And is it possible for the cop not to notice the gearbox or they always check this as well when they stop you.

Back in the old days it used to be just a fine.
But nowdays you get demerit and a fine if you drive manual on a P1 auto license.

ironically the cop let him drive off after taking down his details

i had a mate who got done for it. i think its about $250 and 3 demerits. but i'm not 100% sure
