Redeeming myself in the HSC exam? (1 Viewer)

So basically to keep it short i did horribly in the math standard trial exam couple days ago and Im very sure my ranking will go from 1st to 3rd/4th (considering the others have not found the exam hard, which im pretty sure everyone did).

Because of this I feel like theres no hope for this subject anymore. I am smart with math, but the examiners put specific questions about my weakest point and milked that topic in the exam.

Im asking if it will be worth it continuing to redeem myself in the actual HSC exam, or would all that effort be worthless with such minimal positives towards my overall ATAR.

Um it's absolutely not worthless you've come so far why give up now? There's only a few more months til HSC and you messed up ONE exam. It will 100% not ruin your chances of getting a good ATAR. Take it easy and don't overthink it too much!!

So it would be worth putting effort into? I've heard all sorts of things from 'experts' on the topic of HSC scaling and such, some suggested that your HSC marks will only be a reflection of how you did internally (like for example, If i got 7th/30th then If i got 2nd in the HSC exams for my school then i would get roughly scaled a little despite the external marks making up 50% of your entire marks).

Another question I have (which idk if you know fully) are the band 6s displayed on websites ,such as HSC Ninja, the marks of the people who got band 6s externally or combined?

it’d only be based on their hsc mark i think (which is combined)

a rank of 3rd is very good, especially since math standard is usually a class of like 50+. plus math is only 1/5th of your hsc subjects. keep studying math. most schools have trials that are way harder than the actual hsc exam, theyre purposefully going to give you harder questions.

once you get your hsc trial paper back - check which syllabus points you lost marks on. revise those those syllabus dot points then do practise questions for that syllabus dot point until youve improved.

dont give up, youve got 2 months left and youve already put 10 months down. think about if youre going to regret studying for 2 months or regret slacking for 2 months. even if that studying does little for your atar, youre always going to be plagued with "what if". keep going, then you can relax for 3 months once hsc ends.
