Back when I did my HSC, I used the novel "The Wave" (1981) by Todd Strasser as my related text. This novel does not cover the effects of time on memory but it does work well with Kenneth Slessor's poems. Specifically, I remember discussing the abuse of power as a prominent theme and linked that to the poem "Vesper-Song Of The Reverend Samuel Marsden". I also discussed another prominent theme and linked it to another of Slessor's poems, although I sadly can no longer that specific theme.

I hope this helps! :D
