Can anybody recommend a "changing self" text that can be related to Mike Leigh's Secret and Lies? Btw, Secrets and Lies is a movie about Hortense Cumberbatch, a successful black optometrist who is adopted. After the death of her adoptive mother, she chooses to trace her family history and discovers that her birth mother, Cynthia Purley, is a working class white woman. Cynthia's brother, Maurice Purley, is a photographer who is married to a suburban housewife. (wikied that.) The major themes are family and racism. I have thought abt doing poems by judith wright or gwen hardwood, but they dont have very many similarities. I could have done looking for alibrandi, but its quite common and cliche. Anybody have anything a little different? Thanks
