Hi.

Just a quick question. I found this scenario in the Leading Edge textbook and sometimes it doesn;t give answers so ...

Sonya, a business woman, was extradited to NSW from WA over her alleged involvement in Australia's fourth largest importation of ecstasy tablets. Sonya did not apply for bail at Parramatta Local Court. Six others have also been charged over the find.

The question states:

Using the example of Sonya, outline the criminal process leading to remand.

If anyone knows the answer and would like to share, thanks in advance.

It's basically telling you to outline the process from Sonya comitting the crime and getting arrested to her being remanded in NSW.

Crime > Arrest > Extradition > Preliminary Hearing > Bail not applied for > Trial > Charge > Sentence (remand).

Crime > Arrest > Extradition > Preliminary Hearing > Bail not applied for > Trial > Charge > Sentence (remand).
That it isn't the right order I don't think. Remand is the imprisonment of criminal suspects awaiting trial or sentencing. It doesn't refer to the actual term of imprisonment after sentencing. It refers to the time they spend in prison while they wait for either their trial, or for the sentencing hearing to commence.
