They can cut off all financial and other support, forcing you to attempt to move out straight out of high school, pay for all the costs associated with uni, an aprtment or something, food, bills, all on your own, 'disown' you from the family, etc etc. I wouldn't expect someone clearly in your more priceless situation to understand but it's not as easy as just 'not being a sheep' for everyone.
Well clearly if your parents did that, then f*ck them. They don't even love you. A true loving parent will accept you for who you are. Parents abandoning their son/daughter is even worse than a parent who is probably a drug addict. Anyways, this guy already finished his high school.

No one here is being a sheep. It's not as easy as you think lol.
Nothing is easy, but they should understand that this guy put effort (I assume). Forcing your child to go through the stupid HSC again is ridiculous.

Do not repeat HSC!!! You might do worse the second time around from getting too complacent because of not having to learn anything new... :dog:

BTW, if 95 can get into Vet science, do it and try to transfer later. Vet is similar to Med and share lots of subjects in the first few years. Parental pressure is not something easy to handle. Many kids today stay with mummy until 30 years of age because it is too expensive to move out. Also getting 95 ATAR means pretty academic (and lack of street survival skills) so it is very hard to fight parents. Some parents invest so much for kids to do well and hurting the parents is not always a cool thing to do. If they work 14 hours per day to support the kids, it is hard to argue with them!

Also beware that Med will not be a gold mine in the future. Some med doctors in the past are just greedy legal quacks who got their degrees then milk their ethnic community and medicare as much as they could. They never bother to update knowledge and setup their shops next to grocery shops, fish shops and butcher shops to write random prescriptions. It is getting a lot harder in Med and unless one also think about becoming specialists in the future, GP may become a lot less financially rewarding in the future.

Life's too short to do something you don't actually want to do.

Medicine is extremely demanding and many medical students and doctors will experience work and study fatigue. But the most brilliant doctors are those who find ways to battle past these normal lulls and are able to remain committed to what they are passionate about: looking after other people. It's not a lifestyle meant for all, and there will be sacrifices involved that may not be there in other professions.

But if you do really want to do medicine, having an ATAR of 95 is no barrier... If you perform well, for example, in your first year uni and re-sit UMAT then many options will be open to you. I find that most people who really really want to do medicine a) get in; and b) are those who you want to be your doctor, because they'd have tried so hard. My friend has just finished her engineering/architecture degree at USYD and decided to do medicine and recently got into UTas (UWS/UNCLE results pending), so it's definitely achievable!

In short, I know that 95 may have been a disappointment but there are plenty of pathways in life. Not everyone must choose to travel the same one.
This post reminds me

apply for UTas because you only need a 95 ATAR
and the UMAT requirement goes down once you're a non-standard
