Yo waddap - got a mate who is stressin out whether to repeat year 12 or not.
He does Legal studies, biology, eng adv, chemistry, business studies.
He doesn't want to talk about it too much, but for him to remain anonymous, imma say his marks/ranks so far has given him an atar estimate of 85.
Yes/No to repeat?

yuck, why would anyone want to do year 12 twice?!
it's not worth repeating over an 85, which isn't that bad.

Yeah, i don't honestly know why you'd repeat haha, and 85 isn't even that bad! I wouldn't even repeat if i got an asterix

You should only repeat the HSC if special circumstances dictate it (i.e. serious illness). Otherwise, it is a bad idea - you are far better off going to uni and transfering. That way, it may be possible to cover some units from your goal course, hence lessening the time you spend at uni.

No, he can always get bonus points for scoring b5 and b6 in his subjects...

Having an estimate ATAR of 85 and thinking of repeating is absolutely mind-boggling.

why is he even worrying about this now? the hsc is months away and he doesn't know his final marks... less time spent stressing about repeating and more time studying is my suggestion. repeating should only be done in very select circumstances as said above

85 is a good atar, way above average. It would be way easier to apply for bonus points or transfer at uni.

Year 12 is so bad. The stress that your body experiences during this period would definitely limit your potential, let alone doing it twice..
