Hey,
i failied by english prelim yeariles. by 4 amrks
the new princple at my school is making thoose who fail resit do u think this fair. do u have to do this:burn:

i only failed cuz the teacher couldnt read my writting, also spelling which im trying to work on. lol nt just that but i could have bassed with what i wrote

Yeah, I think it's fair.
It means that by the time you do your HSC, you should have a better grasp of what you need to be doing.
Plus if you can't achieve at prelim level, you've got no hope at HSC level, so forcibly encouraging you to achieve in prelim is good for you.

you'd be similarly penalised in HSC, so i don't really know what you're complaining about.

it's similar enough. by what you say, the cause of failure is writing and spelling. this defn carries over to hsc. so dw, and try your hardest on the resit.

Just practice a whole lot, but start out making sure it's legible - it doesn't matter how slow you write at first. After you've done that, try to write faster while maintaining its legibility.

Alternatively, you can be lazy and try to get a scribe or something.

Write slower? If you're trying to cram 1400 words into an eng essay, don't. i know people who write like 800 and get high marks. umm you could try a handwriting course? practice heaps or something. i had a writing problem too, but it was sorta readable by the right people

also kara42, i dont tihnk you'd lke to resit prelim exams as much as hsc ones because they dont really count at ll.

A lot of people got less than 50% in my school. They didn't have to resit their exams though.

And a fail is like band1? the school chooses the mark for the cutoff. like last year at my school if you got less htan 36% on mx1 you had to resit./

What the... why choose 36%? Whats so special about 36% that they can't just round it up?

oh it was set to performance bands or some crap. like you know, moderation makes marks go up. so my school though 36% raw was goin to be moderated 50.

band 4/5 is like 70 to 90% dude... how the hell are you failing? band 1 is a fail, not 4/5
