I once took apart one and put it back together solved. If you tilt one side to a 45 degree angle, the pieces can kind of easily be taken off.

Though I have used algorithms to solve cubes before.

My friend's dad gets a master cube, writes down pages of calculations and algorithms, and when he finishes doing that, solves the cube really quickly by following the algorithms he's worked out.
Too good. Should ask him how he does it, I'm curious to find out.

1. It's rubix
2. I want a rubix cube.
3. you solve it in layers using certain algorithms
Actually, it's Rubik's. :)

i can do a normal one it takes me a bit, but haven't been able to find these special cubes again, but they were about 2"x2" with the five x five structure and they were designed for the blind and had differing textures instead, and i could doe those blind folded and then i started doing it in my mouth perfect everytime. Need to find one again to put it on youtube. If anyone sees one somewhere let me know where. (and before any comments come up, i am not trolling i am being serious) its easy when you don't have a gag reflex.

EDIT lols didn't know my conversion rates lols, sorry it read 2" x 2" no it should say 1" by 1" lols :p me and maths

once you know how to solve the cube its really not that amazing anymore.

i know this guy who can do it in 20 seconds.

he'll make his way into this thread.
Friend of mine - non BOSer - solved a rubix cube with one hand in 18 seconds.
He makes a point of it to whip out his phone in any social situation and come across as a 'super-nerd' by showing a video of the said incident, and attempting to explain the complex algorithms behind solving it.

It has nothing to do w. mathematics. There are things called algorithms. Once your faced w. a special situation, you apply a series of cube rotations and movments, therefore setting you up for another situation, in which you will need to apply another algorithm.

The set of algorithms to solve the cube is actually mathematics...

Whats the mathematics behind that wonderful cube?

Does anyone know how to solve them without either

a) Randomly rotating the block

b) Ripping the squares off and rearanging them to work

Yeah, its pretty simple; just a matter of memorising the eight or so algorithms and doing it over and over to get it stuck in your head

You can always do what i did and lock yourself in a room for 2 days and work it out yourself :)
