Expect your uni to "restructure" your degree somewhere between second (if 3 year) and third (if 4 year) year

Expect it to be a pain in the ass, and expect to miss out on that sexy 3rd year elective you were really looking forward to

Expect your uni's online enrollment system to be "restructured" every year and expect it to be harder to use every year too

For people who have been nerds like i was in high school:
Learn the art of cramming - it's for your own good.
Consistent work? PFFT. That's for high school. Discover the minimal amount of work you need to do during the sem to still be able to cram to achieve relatively good marks. The 'extra' time earnt goes into socialising!

Once you accept your offer, book your tutes and lectures as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

All USYD'ers who walk from Redfern, do not go at a slow pace on Lawson St or I'll gut you.

If you find that your lecture is scheduled at an inappropriate time, check to see if there are other streams being run for the same unit. You can just as easily go to another lecture if suits, especially after the early crowds die down.

I've accepted an offer from Macquarie, but couldn't see anywhere to book my tutes and lectures. I'm getting a little scared as a lot of my friends (none of whom are going to Macquarie) have already booked theirs.

When I started at Macquarie they had a day when you went in and organised your student ID/etc. and you also enrolled in classes.. Beware - if your last name is towards the end of the alphabet you probably won't get the classes you want because you will be one of the last ones to go in and enrol.

Just because you don't have to attend lectures, it does not mean you shouldn't. Unless the lecturer is shit.

Always scope out the pro-active people within a particular unit just in case there is a group assignment.

When joining clubs & societies, always have a look out for ones which can be directly applied within your field. For example, law students should participate in debating, mooting and client interviews. It's a great way to pick up those extra skills which pull you in front of the pack when it comes down to applying for graduate positions.
