Oooh, on l'attend avec impatience :D. What sort of MP3 player are you getting? I'm thinking of one but I think I'm leaning towards a discman that can play MP3 CDs...

OMG, even making the ASSERTION that golf could be in the olympics is scary!!! Heaven help us all. Speaking of grass grow - two syllables - dressage. Tedium personified.

J'ai mal a` comprendre pourquoi Ian Thorpe se rend en larmes chaque fois qu'il gagne une course. Quoi?? S'il veut pleurer, donne la maudite medaille a` quelqu'un d'autre!

Rugby would be a good Olympic sport, pity not many countries play it ot the extent Aust, South Africa, the UK, NZ etc play it. Hehe...

Does anyone know what that rafting/kayaking sport is? Cos it looks all right... Looks new too.

Roy and HG are good. They make The Olympics tolerable. I've noticed "Fatso" in you av recently. ;)

Hey! HG's daughter goes to my old school and so he occasionally works at the canteen. Yea he's pretty funny, he cracks jokes when you're buying rolls and sandwiches etc.

And no Chepas, kayaking is soo not a new sport, they do have some new sport/s though I think this yr.

Finalement, Ian Thorpe est dégutant! We can find no explanation why he is always on the covers of girls' magazines in super tight underwear. *Shivers* You should see this article when he dressed up in a superman leotard thing. Il faut que nous lui respectons parce qu'il a beaucoup talent...mais seulment dans la piscine.

PS I SWEAR I saw I Thorpe on Maquarie street about 3 weeks ago. I think he was wearing one of those cork hats as a disguise, with green sunnies :axedeath:

Yeah he's sooo ugly... i don't get why everyone raves over him. I mean look at him!!!! sure, he's got a good body (when he's been waxed down - eugh him with body hair is intolerable! lol) But we don't need to see him 24/7. Huge nose! How about the rest of him without his face? Nah i can still think of better people to watch (like Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom in Troy - not the characters, the characters were crap!)

Umm i'm getting an mp3 player not for music so much but because i want to tape all of my notes for my subjects and listen to them over and over again... hoping something will eventually sink in... it's 512mb usb with voice record and 7 diff coloured backlights. It also has this text to speech thing where if you've saved a word file onto it, it can read it out to you (not sure how that's going to work but oh well!) it's some korean brand but i don't really care. as long as it works....

^MP3. coolness.

^^Ian Thorpe. What have I started!

^^^HG's Daughter. Nice! That's so weird, picturing someone who's famous, in a humble school canteen with sausage rolls and salad sandwiches... They're human too! lol...

:D

I figure a lot of people don't really like him. The other day I was with some friends at the station and we were innocently reading 'Cosmo' and came across some article on sexy sportsmen semi-naked or something... I can't rememeber exactly... BUT, one of my friends remarked "Oh I bet Ian Thorpe is in there" another agreed "Yeah...I hate Ian Thorpe". THEN, some completely random (obviously drunk) man walked up to us and began to mimic us mockingly, dancing around our seat repeating "I hate Ian Thorpe" over and over again.

I just burst out laughing at the complete randomness of the incident.

Me personally, not a fan of Ian Thorpe, congrats to him for his swimming achievements, but he's not my cup of tea. ;)

^^^HAHA at Cosmo story :D

^^ Ian Thorpe and Cups of Tea: Wow. His zenith seems to have past. All the girls at school who were swooning over him not even a year or two ago are all 'so over him' :p

^ Yay more souls who don't do Maths :D I remember I clicked on the maths forum once by mistake in the dropdown menu, and I thought. "Argh no! Get out of here!" :p I'm so thick in maths. Sometimes addition is beyond me, it's sort of wrorying.

To the subject of this forum once more, hehe: Anyone know of new French movies release at Dendy or somewhere else at the movies at the moment?

HAHAHAH!! Yes we have a knack of getting onto completely irrelevant tangents. But I suck at maths... :uhhuh:

Movies: I haven't seen any in the papers for aaaages. Not since "Etre et Avoir" which featured for months.... :+ now that the Olympics are on 24/7 on SBS there aren't any on there either :(

Hopefully something will come out soon-ish. But generally speaking there aren't that many decent movies out at the moment, french or otherwise. I haven't seen any since the holidays and that was, what, almost a month ago!!

Yeah, I saw 'Etre et Avoir'- it was really cute/feelgood. Sorta documentary style, but still interesting/engaging. And at least I had a chance of understanding some of the vocab without reading the subtitles constantly because it centered around a group of five year olds (doesn't say much about my level of french though... )

It was soooooooo sweet watching them learn to grasp the language, forming sentences with verbs and all that.

Yeah it was sposed to be a documentary. It was unscripted, just following them at a boarding school or something. And i'm pretty sure you could understand more of it than me... I generally suck at french.

i thought 'le papillon' was really sweet. But i've already said that...

I got my mp3 too... it's so small and cool. Only prob now is that i have to pretty much do most of my 4 unti majorwork tonight.. and i won't get chance to play with it. Oh and the fact that i can't download songs cos our net has a download limit so it costs us like 10x as much if i do something like that. Damn.

Oui, tomorrows_ a raison. C'est vrai. Au moins que c'était vrai a` l'époque, concernant les filles de ma classe. Je me souviens d'une conversation et d'une citation qui n'a jamais quitté la tête, malheureusement!

(After seeing this bloody great big thing on a building in George St, like, 60 foot high)
Friend: - "He has a greeeat body, but I don't like his face. If only he chopped his head off, he'd be so hot.".

^^ MP3s. Youppi.

Félicitations a` tous d'avoir fini vos trials! Attendons donc le 28. (Continuers) le 30. (Beginners) et le 4. (Extension) pour vraiment fêter un peu!

About French Films - I read in the paper (Telegraph, unfortunately) about this movie "Touching the Void" from France:

The Daily Telegraph said:
Touching the Void: M, 100 mins, France

A jaw-dropping account of survival in the face of impossible odds. Two Brits set out to climb an unscaled peak in the Peruvian Andes. This is pick-by-piton account of what happened on the way back down.
I'm having trouble deciphering what that ^ means... lol. It got 4 stars from this reviewer though.

Yeah, what is 'pick-by-piton'???? Prolly some obscure colloquial phrase.

Kinda reminds me of this activity my french teacher gave me today. The whole thing was written in cryptic french expressions. I took me forever to work out what on earth the passage was actually trying to communicate!

pick by piton? not to seem simplistic or stupid or anything, but aren't picks like what you use to climb a mountain. And wouldn't it follow then that pitons are like that - something you use to climb. Therefore the meaning would be basically like step-by-step in hiking terms. Actually this is just my wild guess. Hope i'm right.

2 entries found for piton.
pi·ton ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ptn)
n.
A metal spike fitted at one end with an eye for securing a rope and driven into rock or ice as a support in mountain climbing.

I WAS RIGHT!!!!

sorry, that doesn't happen very often! wish me making up bs in the trials was right like that.

Yeah so you're following them every step of the way. the whole way up/down.

I FEEL SO HAPPY NOW!!! YAY!!! I GOT SOMETHING RIGHT!!! pity it doens't count to anything...
