Taking into account the current consensus, this paper was hard. To put it blunt, someone with some knowledge could they help us all out. What kinda scaled marks to ppl think will come from these raw marks?

30-39?
40-49?
50-59?
60-69?
70-79?
80-89?
90-99?
100-109?
110 +

Please someone who knows simplify it down n just spit it out. Would be much appreciated for those of us who aren't sure.

I'll take a stab. Last year i remember one of my friends attempted about 45/120 marks and he got 72.
30-39 = 64 - 73
40-49 = 73 - 77
50-59 = 77 - 84
60-69 = 84 - 89
70-79 = 89 - 94
80-89 = 94 - 97
90-99 = 97 - 98
100-109 = 98 - 99
110 + = 99

30-39 = 64 - 73
40-49 = 73 - 77
50-59 = 77 - 84
60-69 = 84 - 89
70-79 = 89 - 94
80-89 = 94 - 97
90-99 = 97 - 98
100-109 = 98 - 99
110 + = 99
uh, personally i dont think so bud

so the difference between a 90 and 109 is...2 marks in the end???

also i rekon ur e4 cutoff is a little low - a high 70's (78/79) is more likely to just squeeze in an e4 (90), if it will make it at all

ill take a stab (lol yeh criticise me if ya want):

30-39 = 62 - 68
40-49 = 68 - 73
50-59 = 73 - 79
60-69 = 79 - 84
70-79 = 84 - 89
80-89 = 89 - 93
90-99 = 93 - 96
100-111 = 96 - 99
112 + = 100

Ah, it's hard though.

What do you guys reckon the median mark fo MX2 is?

If you got a median mark in MX2, you will get 44.7/50 scaled mark.

isn't median mark for maths ext 2 60/120?
by the way how yo u access to 2007 scaling report?
No not necessarily. It really depends on how everybody performs.

Say we have 5 people doing ex2 maths in the state (which is impossible) and they got:

110, 100, 90, 80 and 20. The median mark is 90 not 60.

I have an access to 2007 scaling report because I am the chosen one to teach the people the right way to understand UAI - jks.

You can access 2007 scaling report from UAC website.

To date, only one person is known to have gotten 120 in 4u ever. So probably no. I'd say 118+ ish can get 100

if you see median hsc mark and median band from uac website, does it mean that in 2007, median mark of 84 scaled to E3?
um no...

Based on Lyounamu's info about median mark and the fact that will be luck to get pass i guess/hope.

30-39 - 70-75
40-49 - 75-80
50-59 - 80-86
60-69 - 86-90
70-79 - 90-93
80-89 - 93-95
90-99 - 95- 97
100-109 - 97-98
110 + - 99

Bold is where i think i Sit. Although i dont think i iwll be that high. I rekon i got low 90s.

by the way did you consider the fact that this year's exam was hard when you estimated those cut off mark??
I think that would've been taking into account the difficulty of the exam. The exam wasn't actually that difficult, it was just quite different. So it actually suited some people, meaning that the cut-offs may not be as low as we may hope :(
Anyway, I PMed you lou071

I did 4u last year, and im pretty sure i got a raw mark of around 60% (based on the solutions that were uploaded by someone on this forum shortly after the exam, when my answers were still fresh in my head lol). I ended up with a HSC mark of 84.

A friend of mine got a HSC mark of 92, and based on his accounts, he probably got around a raw mark in the 90s/120. So im guessing the cutoff for E4 last year was around high 80s raw.

It can change from year to year depending on the difficulty of the paper, last year's was a little easy compared to previous ones i think. But basically my teacher said usually the cutoff would be around 70%+ if i remember correctly; and she has marked 4u HSC papers, co-written CSSA 4u papers, and is a co-author of a 4u textbook.

LOL scaling of 4u kicks ass either way.

So ur saying the Cutoff for Ext 2 will be higher then Ext 1 despite it being a much hard couse?? I dont think so. Also did you ever think you got lower then what you thought because of stupid mistakes? I dont think the cutoff will be low 90s or high 80s. It would be around 80 but because this year was hard possibly lower.

My bad, was meant to say high 70s raw generally from year to year, depending on the difficulty of the paper. So what's that - around 65%+ then.

During both maths exams, i tally up the amount of marks i think ive gotten, with a +/- error. My real estimate was 58% for the 4u exam last year, couldnt remember exactly since its been so long since i did it lol. And yes, i do take into account silly mistakes.

dw too much about it...

Yea 58% in last years test getting 84 sounds about right. This years test being a lot harder i rekon about that probably a bit higher (maybe 60%) could feature in the E4s. But it definitely wont be 90s getting 92. It will be more like 80 or a little over getting 92. The gaps are smaller closer to 50% and then get bigger as you get further and since an E4 is around 35% the gaps will still be relitively small between 90 to 91 for example. Where as from 99 to 100 will be big. So it cant be 90s getting 92, 90s will be about 94+.

so i can i hope for a 92 with a raw mark of about 82/120? I screwed this one up massively massively, was a bit upset for several days, was actually too afraid to look on BOS to read what everyone's saying. But it's good to know heaps of other people had problems with it as well
