Hey, I was wondering truly how my subjects scale:
Advanced English
Economics
Physics
Mathematics(I accelerated so it will count towards ATAR anyways even though im doing extension 2)
Mathematics Extension 1
Mathematics Extension 2
Studies of Religion 1
Also i just did the Advanced mathematics exam on monday, i rekon i got about 89%. How much would that scale up or would that make the cut-off for a band 6?
Thanks a lot.

No it won't. Resolve this issue now with your teachers. Once you sign up for 4u, your 2u mark is completely irrelevant.

No offence but your subjects are pretty poor scaling wise.
I mean 4 unit maths is your only strength, economics and physics has been scaling extremely poorly in recent years.

People are actually doing latin do reap the benefits of scaling, and 89 percent in 2unit maths? and your doing 4unit? no offence thats pretty appaling...

And Sor....sad....

pretty harsh dude, if you do well in eco and physics they still scale up pretty nice. And Q16 was pretty difficult -.- Nd its his choice to do SOR, not yours :L

eh i made stupid mistakes, so your are right there, should've gotten higher. SOR 1 isnt too bad, but economics and physics do fairly well. im not looking at achieving like 99.7 or whatever, im looking at 92 or 93.

then thats a different story, I'm generalising on the people who aim for 99.95 + state rank in all subjects which is basically what all the students at my school do. Asians doing latin for the scaling lol..

hahaha. ahh thats funny. yeah i guess you must be really good at math then, a lot of kids ask me for help at school but i have to be honest i dont even compare to some kids in the state. Im aiming for about 85 in everything and 65 in X2. But sheez bro you must have a lot of competition!

too far bro...

Economics = highest scaling humanities subject
physics and chem = highest scaling sciences
maths 3U + 4U = crazy scaling
English advanced = must

pretty strong id say
really? oh thats cool then. I did great in everything for prelim, i did chemistry but i got 27% in the yearly lol-dropping that was a given, funny how im decent in math and physics but crap at chem. I think an ATAR of 93 is fairly achievable. Just hoping i can get 65% for X2.

dood, you shouldnt have dropped chem. Those year 11 marks dont count to hsc. If u started studying this term it would be ok.

still wk 2 so u should transfer. Its worth it.

what about ancient history? im hoping for 92+ in hsc exam and my internal rank is 3/42, dont tell me because its poor scaling im gonna get like scaled down to like 70 :(

one of the best scaling subjects ever. simply an 80 in chem is worth a 90 in religion studies

dw i completely failed prelim chem. then hsc the syllabus is much simpler and easier to understand.

obv a 90 in one subject cannot compare to a 90 in another. Ancient history is one of the poorer scaling subjects so... yeh it will fall. (not to 70 tho mebe 80)

For example, say you got a 90 in general maths (easiest of all maths) it will only scale to a 30 tops.

Whereas a 70 in 4U will scale upwards like crazy.

alright, what do u mean 80s? like low 80s or like 85, 86, etc? Damn, most of my subjects are 'bad scalers', but i got heaps good in em, all 90+ and top 3 rank.. does this mean im not gonna get 90 ATAR?

I did: English adv, Physics, Chem, eco, maths adv, and maths 3U, (only choose high scalers if you want high ATAR)

slightly more complicated. What are your subjects?

Anways, if you do really well in them then you should be fine. However, if you get below 90, then its gonna start scaling down pretty badly.

besides ancient, i do standard english, 2u maths, biology, legal studies. English obviously not 90+ but ill go alright, 2u maths-85-90 for sure, biology, 80-90, legal- 93+

i just want 87-92 ATAR, n my ranks, english 5/140, 2u 4/85, bio 6/64, ancient 3/42, legal 3/31, not all top 3 but pretty decent ranks i say

85-90 2u maths should scale ok. Biology is the worst scaler out of all 3 sciences but 80-90 will get you above 90 atar.

English standard scales much worse than advanced (only 5% get band 5) so its gonna drag you down a lot if u didnt do well. (if u got 70-80 in standard, it will be very hard to get 90 atar)

Your legal studies is good, 93+ is no problem.
