Lol dont be sarcastic!
Lol I would say..
If your get 70/120 raw mark.

considering this year was harder than 2004
u will probably get Band E4

40/120 will bring u up to Band E3 for a sure
coz one of my friend got about 50 last year and ended up with 84

I posted this in the main thread as well, but it is of relevance here, so:

So a mark of 58% will probably scale to mid70ish (by my guestemation).

The students in this thread seem to be more concerned with "aligning" rather than scaling.

As an interesting sidenote, the scaling for Extension 2 students will be determined entirely by the performance of those students on the Extension 1 paper on Thursday.

Make it a good one. :)

That's how scaling for all extension courses is performed.

Ext 1 distribution of scaled marks = scaled marks gained by Ext 1 students on 2U paper

Ext 2 distribution of scaled marks = scaled marks gained by Ext 2 students on Ext 1 paper

The exception is English Extension 2, where the distribution of marks is shaped to be the distribution of marks gained by the Extension 2 candidature on the Advanced paper, rather than on the Extension 1 paper.

Your raw mark is scaled to be your HSC mark. However, this HSC mark is scaled again to generate your UAI. Hence SAM is used for scaling your HSC mark to your UAI %.

I'm not sure I follow that table. Let's take a simple example.

Student X achieves 60/120 in this paper. What does he align to (aprox.) and what does he scale to (aprox) and is his mark above or below average(generally speaking)??

60/120 will getcha 82-83/100, which in turn will scale to about 87-88/100 for uai calculation.

i see, so 80 raw mark got u 90+ HSC mark, it can then be turned into greater UAI mark.

thanx
