If you're going for the more prestigious scholarships, you'll need to be doing a lot more than just being captain/vice/src leader at your school...
The good thing about being a captian/vice etc, is that you get more involved in extra activities and volunteer work. Well, at least at our school we do hehe.

Thats hardly encouraging for the OP ;)
Welll, I am still doing sport ^^
It's just that St John (takes up around 3hrs a week including travel) + sport is a bit too much :)
Especially considering the heap of extra curricular stuff I do in school too.
I'm still of the firm belief that it's possible to do extra curriculars whilst doing HSC. My friend, who'll probably be along to this forum soon, will tell you how she does soooooo much stuff WHILST doing 14 units!

Yar. Volunteer work, any extra school related activities, sporting activites, instrumental activities etc etc
What if you have a job and you are too caught up with the one thing? And what if you have a lot of experience in retail - say 2 years?...

hmmm... how about school captain and helping out as a trained level zero couch at activve after school communities (some new government thingy) where I basically "coach" little kids and play fun sports with them like bowling and being a peer support leader - if i'm aiming for an extra-curricular scholarship what kind of other things would help with getting one?

Brontecat - you're pretty much set for most scholarships. However, a lot of scholarships do require a ATAR requirement. :)
