HI i am in year 9 and wanted to know the answers to some questions.

1. With the completition of your school certificate do you recieve a document with information about all your results from year 7 to 10 or is this just a rumor i heard?
2. Is it only the exams which count toward the SC?0
3. If you plan on going on to do the HSC does the SC really matter?
Thanks for the help!:)

1. You receive a certificate showing all the school grades you achieved from school. ie [A-E] and also a part which shows your bands and marks for actual SC test. The certificate only shows result from Year 10. Oh, in some schools, like mine, they also show the grade for the subject you dropped in beginning of Year 10. (We were allowed to choose 3 elective, drop one at end of year, because we had to cram the compulsory History and Geography courses into Year 10).

2. Yea, they show test bands+marks.

3. It is necessary to complete the SC, as it is part of the requirement for doing the HSC. Though completing the SC can mean all Band 1s. :p

Good luck mate :)

lol arent they cancelling the SC for your year? il answer your questions anyway though

1 & 2. its true to some extent. you will get something telling you how the subjects you studied and how many hours you studied of it up to year 10. for all the subjects bar the ones you sit an exam for you will get an overall mark, like if you got mostly A's in high school you will get an A for that subject. for the SC exam subjects this will be based on how you went to year 10, possibly trial SC? dont worry about that so much, no one cares about these marks much anyway. the exam ones are the only ones that people care about.

3. no.

Yeah, year 8 result doesnt appear on the SC besides subject completion. This year's year 10 is the last year to do it anyway.

In regards to what you do get, this will explain it...give you an example

All students successfully completing the School Certificate receive a portfolio.
From 2006, the School Certificate credential will contain two documents:
1. A School Certificate Testamur, which looks like this:
SC Testamur (front)
SC Testamur (reverse)

2. A Record of Achievement, which shows all Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) courses and School Certificate tests completed. It includes, where appropriate:
  • the Stage 5 courses that a student has completed and the grade (A-E) awarded by the student's school for each course. The Course Performance Descriptors describe typical performance by students in each grade at the end of Stage 5
  • the results achieved by the student in the School Certificate tests. For each test the mark awarded (out of a possible 100) is shown. Except in the case of the Computing Skills test, the band achieved is also reported. Band 1 is the lowest band and band 6 is the highest. See the knowledge and skills typically demonstrated by students in each test band, and recent performance data
  • the mandatory requirements in Languages, Design & Technology, Music, Visual Arts, and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Mandatory requirements are reported as 'Completed', or, where they have not been met, as 'Not Completed'
  • a statement as to whether the student is eligible for the School Certificate.

An example of a Record of Achievement for a student:
SC ROA (front)
SC ROA (reverse)

Life Skills. Where students undertake a course based on Life Skills outcomes and content, achievement in the course is reported as 'Completed'. A separate Profile of Student Achievement provides details of the specific Life Skills syllabus outcomes achieved.

woo O6 SC'ers ! lol irrelevant I know, but still. I always though all SC's looked like ours. They also gave us a nifty blue folder to keep it in (which is now supposedly collecting dust in my bedroom. ^^
