School Laptop, Tablet or Chromebook? (1 Viewer)

Hi! I'll be in Year 11 next year and I'm looking for a PC that is lightweight and has the basic essentials for typing up notes and reports.

I've had my school laptop - HP ProBook4330s (runs on Windows 7) for more than a year now and it has slightly affected my posture and spinal health (due to its weight).

I've looked into purchasing a tablet - an iPad or Galaxy Tab would be great, but I'm not into the awkward position of typing on a screen or typing on a keyboard whilst looking on a small screen (oh, and there's nothing similar to Office or Google Docs to help me out with essays right?).

Chromebooks look pretty good, I'm thinking of investing in one since the bootup time is blazing fast and runs on student essentials - ie. Google Docs etc. I've read reviews noting that the OS runs slow when more tabs and tasks are added on Should I pay more than $249 (Samsung Chromebook) for a better Chromebook experience?

Overall, I'm just looking for a PC that gets the job done quickly, efficiently, (somewhat) cheaply and still have enough speed and power for other tasks such as checking Twitter and listening to music on Youtube whilst completing homework.
*A device that can be useful and portable in both High School and Uni!*

11" MBA can't go wrong. Take mine everyday and love it.

I would recommend a mba or an iPad with keyboard (logitech ultra thin kb is what I use) or any tablet with a keyboard for that matter.

^ Second the surface. I have the RT, and it is a students best friend. It ships with the student edition of office, and integrated with your Microsoft account and you can easily access sky-drive. It also addresses the issue of awkwardly typing on the screen because you've got the keyboard cover for $100 extra. and half the price of an 11in MBA.

definitely NOT a chromebook. It depends. For uni you see atleast 50% with macbooks. Others have tablets. I think tablet would probably be the best - with keyboard. you can easily doodle over lecture notes + type with ease. The only problem with tables though - small, can't keep two windows open at once and view them both properly.

It's incredibly light and incredibly powerful (well, depends on how much you customise it when you buy it online, which I recommend doing) with the added bonus of actually being a computer itself, not some shitty tablet that is mostly impractical when you wanna use a computer properly at home for gaming/movies/porn if need be.


Personally I'd get that computer and use it to take to school/uni and at home I'd buy a monitor & wireless keyboard/mouse so that it could also act as a desktop and not damage your posture further.

Ummm I suggest you to ACTUALLY write the down in a book with a pen. Helps you memorise them better and trains your writing speed which would be extremely useful exams in the future

I'd rather choose Chromebook, its about a lot of feature you can do for school activities.
