I'll be getting mine on Thursday. By any chance, does the reference include partial absenses (If it does, I'm screwed)? Lol.

Lol. Were getting ours sent in the mail. Do teachers tell the truth though because I cant imagine most teachers writing on a reference for employers "is a little shit who never listens"? lol

we have to wait til the sign out days, well for our references, we had a form to fill out with like how do you consider yourself, and the activities you've been involved in since yr 7, so we basically we wrote it ourselves in point form, and teachers jazzing it up in pretty sentences.. hehhe..

Same with us. Only, most people didn't take it seriously, and put things like african tribal dancer, and strip show host under "interests" and "career ambitions" respectively. Didn't realise they were incorporating that stuff in our references. Lucky I took mine seriously. It turned out to be really nice-- sounds so fake though.

yeah we had to do that as well-fill out a double sided form, with headings

junior school achievements (academice awards mainly)
senior school achievements
national competitions and what we got (ie. maths comp 2003 distinction)
sporting achievements (and if you didnt do anything, u write compulsory participation in year 7 cross country, lol)
extracurricular activities/cultural activites (Rock Eisteddfod, environmental team, charities like amnesty and red shield appeal, etc.)

and then our year advisor wrote out everything in sentences, with all these fancy words, lol, and he'd add an extra paragraph of complete bs like how well we were groomed, complied to school uniform and had a good record of attendance...

these references were then passed onto school principal who checked, edited and finalised them, etc. and most of us (those who filled out the forms inthe first place) recieved an original copy of our resume (pretty paper with school logo) plus three copies in our portfolios handed out at graduation (22nd sept), so most of us have them already! lots of people requested theirs early because they needed it for scholarship applications. and those who havent filled out their form yet, well i dont know what happens to them!

and mine is awesome, everything on it is true with that additional bs paragraph, but its all sugarcoated!

Btw every school is different you guys realise- there's no 'set format'... and whilst they don't write bad things, if you have a rather empty looking one- ie. there aren't any comments about whether or not you participated in sport, or had regular attendance at school.... employers can read between the lines. Anyhow, for us, our school teachers wrote some of them I think.

Anyone dare to post theirs?

They're worthless, because employers -know- they're all bullshit.

I'll happily post mine on the 25th.

Mine goes for 2 pages, too much effort to type up the whole thing, but here are a few of my favourite paragraphs.

....

Anna is an articulate student of high intellect who has a mature attitude to all facets of learning. She is a totally reliable and fully co-operative student who always works diligently and independently within and without the classroom situation. Anna is self motivated. She sets herself high standards and achieves these through constant, conscientious hard work. In short, Anna is an exemplary student.

....

As well as having continually demonstrated leadership and organisational skills, Anna always shows respect for others as individuals. She possesses exemplary manners and an effervescent personality. Anna also has a mature sense of humour, complete with the self-effacing honesty of being able to laugh at her own faults. Attributes such as these gain Anna popularity and respect from her peers and teachers alike.
