I am the most correct person you will meet. If someone asks where arabs are from, I say Asia, Sri Lankans are from Asia and Morrocans are from Africa.
I have never been confused by it, yes obviously an indian and a korean person look different, but just cause people come from the same continent doesnt mean they look the same.
as for the statistics thingy, where the hell did you get your info from?

that was what i was saying. everyone is like 'persians are heaps studious'. but that is a generalisation that people cant back up. yes, there will be persian people who study and do well, but there will also be persian people who do not. and the same goes with every nationality.

Karma_Kitten i think that the stats are from the principals council OR from the Board. I dont know if they are available to the gen public unless you get them out of a book... try asking your teachers and see if they say anyting.

I'm black and I dont understand what race has to do with studies, people are always so fixated on labelling certain races smarter than others. everyone is capable of doing work.

as if race has got anythign to do with how you go in the HSC
supisingly, it does.......sum cultures put more emphasis on study...
eg. japanese, chinese, indians, egyptians.......

and others do not put as much emphasis on work.........

in the end it comes down to individual preferences.
simple equation for individual preference:

let A = parental influence & cultural influence

let B = societal and evironmental influence

let G = your genome

let O = other history excluding (A,B,G) of the universe combined with its laws

let U = universal laws applied to "all" current history

Prefrence(individual) = A + B + G + O = U

so when someone says in the end it depends on the individual preference, all they are trying to say is:

O > (A + B + G)

But that is perhaps due to the environment/society they are brought up in, not necessarily their race, you get me?

say if Person A was born from Chinese parents, doesn't mean that Person B who isn't any of the races you list above is automatically going to do worse than person A...that was the point i was tryign to get across, culture/values is a different thing, but in the end your race doesn't matter, its how hard you study etc
