Hey so if u double major in maths...will it just say B sci with double major in math ?
Yeah that's right. Both BSc ppl are doing two majors, either in two subject areas or in one.

from what the faculty members at usyd thought, the cutoffs this year will go down or stay about the same for sciences. what have you all heard?
The cutoffs were quite high already in previous years. So I reckon there won't be big rises if any at all.

your single majors has the same load as our minors at UNSW
No that's certainly not true. A UNSW minor requires 24cp of 2nd/3rd year level courses, while a USYD major requires 24cp at 3rd year level alone. The study load depends on the subject area itself and varies between the two unis. But overall a major at either uni has the same amount of "substance".

yes, at unsw for a major in maths/stats its 30uoc of 3rd yr subjects. considering that only the exceptional students (u most probably could count all of them on one hand. eg Affinity) are permitted to skip ahead, the major doesnt really count the prereqs which cant b avoided/done ahead of time by most ppl
No, a mjor in maths/stats at UNSW only requires 18uoc at 3rd year level (I just checked that out), compared to 24cp at USYD. However it does require more 2nd level courses. The overall content are the same though. UNSW has quite detailed course structures for ppl from different degrees doing maths majors, while USYD has got flexibility for choices from 2nd year onwards.
