You're a fucking idiot.

You make an incorrect assumption based on your own stupid logic.

Then you blame this incorrect assumption on the fact that teachers don't do a good job.

Then you blame the incorrect assumption on the fact that teachers don't do a good job on another assumption that teachers don't want to be there and are underpaid.

Then you shoot yourself in the foot by ignoring your second assumption: If teacher have bad conditions, you say, it's their own fault for choosing the profession. Thus you're encouraging intelligent people not to do teaching.

But this is all mooted by the fact that this thread is fucking pointless - a marker's not going to come on here, read your fucking pathetic thread and say to themselves 'OH, that little kid who can't write properly, makes a bunch of bad assumptions, and is generally a twat has convinced me that I've got a bad work ethic! When I go into work tomorrow, I'll be a better person!!!! :D:D:D'

Hence, you're a fucking idiot. :)
Owned. My 2 cents - You made up a stupid and false premise and expanded on that, you have no argument.

I agree 100% with the topic starter, for design its a fucking ONE YEAR PROJECT!! and the fgts mark it in 20 mins by skim reading areas and if they choose to read an evaluation and unfortunatly its a shittest one out of all the good ones then thats tough luck.
Or maybe it's tough luck to you for making the shittest evaluation.

They double mark or check the papers again(s) to see if they had made any mistakes. It is a long and boring job but it has to be done.

It's for every paper. The marker marks it, and then another marker is given the same paper to mark it. Then I think the senior marker/coordinator marks it again. Thats what I've been told
That's right!

Imagine a marker with 200 papers or so to be marked.

By the time they're finished with the 3rd or so, they'd already be extremely bored.

Now, we all know that papers only get seen once. Often in extended responses in subjects such as science, there may be a few questions that they just glimpse over, and end up missing a few points. That will take away your precious marks.

Whose fault is it? No-one?

WRONG!

It's entirely the fault of the HSC markers. Yes, I understand that they had been really stressed and tired. But wait, think about other professions, such as a doctor for example. They sit in their office all day, they hear the same complaints from their patients, but do they recklessly diagnose you with leukaemia or AIDS? Of course not! It's because it's their responsiblity as a doctor.

Markers, it's your career! Your job! Your responsiblity! Who the hell cares if you've been sitting there all night? It's your job, and you're paid to do it.

As for the pay...Hm? Pay is low? Well guess what I'm gonna say.
YOU KNEW DAMN WELL HOW WELL THE PAY IS BEFORE YOU BECAME A TEACHER.
What would the world become if all the hygiene-keeping workers of the world decided they wanted to have a strike?

Now instead of having industrial actions and wasting the precious time of HSC students, or screwing up students' exams because they felt sleepy, how about you GET A GRASP OF REALITY, and ACCEPT that you CHOSE your path as a teacher, and do your jobs PROPERLY?
Fuck woke people.

I'm just pissed that they make so many mistakes in the marking schemes. I don't know what's happening at the HSC marking centre, but I'm pissed as hell when I got my half-yearlies back. There were so many careless things going on, that if I didn't get to look at it again, I would've lost a few marks, which would've made me drop a few ranks already. They even add up the marks wrong.

I don't know, I guess I'm too obsessed with fairness...But then again, life is never fai =\

I remember once getting my maths paper back for our first year 12 assessment... I gained a mark which I shouldn't have gotten, and I gave it up voluntarily. I just can't pretend nothing happened =\
Haha, luckily my honesty was rewarded. That mistake I did led to me gaining 2 extra marks in the questions afterwards, as CFMs... What goes around comes around =)
I heard this saying "Honest people see others as honest", but that's a load of bullshit. I think it might work for "dishonest people see others as dishonest", as I think I am fairly honest, however disappointingly seeing loads of people who would see my honesty as stupidity =\

Drifting a bit off-topic...

ANYWAY

My English teacher even said to the class that in HSC marking, teachers would basically skim through essays to look for keywords. She demonstrated it once, holding a piece of paper and tracing it with her fingers, then flipped the page after like 5 seconds.

If that's true, the English markers may as well get fired.
Yeah fuck english. People in the UK don't have to put up with this shit.

also my eng teacher says hsc eng markers do a thing where they mark papers sometimes that have already been marked that is a sample and if you mark it very far off what its supposed to be you get locked out of the hsc marking thing or smth. idk if he's lying or not

"Ensuring consistency
Senior markers monitor marking teams to ensure the marking guidelines is correctly and consistently applied.
This includes the following processes.
  • Check marking: reviewing a sample of each marker's work to check they agree with the marks awarded.
  • Common script marking: asking everyone in the team to mark the same response, then reviewing their marks for major differences.
  • Statistical reports: checking each marker's pattern of marks in a session.
If these processes reveal inconsistencies in a marker’s work, that person is re-briefed.
Supervisors of marking also use statistical reports to monitor the marking operation." nesa website

Your English teacher is actually correct! HSC markers do follow a rigorous process to ensure that grading is as consistent and fair as possible across the board. This process includes a few key mechanisms, one of which is what your teacher described—markers are periodically given pre-marked sample responses (called control scripts or pilot scripts) that have already been given a set score by senior markers. This is done to verify that each marker is grading consistently with the established standards.

Here's how it works:

  1. Pilot/Control Scripts: During marking sessions, markers will occasionally be given control scripts that have already been assessed by senior markers. If a marker grades that script significantly differently from the pre-assigned mark, it raises a red flag.
  2. Lockout System: If a marker is consistently found to be marking too far off from the accepted standards—whether they're marking too leniently or too harshly—they can be "locked out" or temporarily suspended from marking while they receive further training or review. This ensures that students’ work is graded as fairly and uniformly as possible across different markers.
This quality control process helps maintain the reliability and credibility of the HSC marking system. It's a way to make sure that no matter who marks your paper, the standards remain consistent.

So, your teacher is telling you something true! 😀
