It wasn't patriotism, it asked for what the soldier said, not the historian. In the soldier's extract, there was no mention of patriotism, that was only mentioned by the guy who used the two primary sources to write his secondary source

It most certainly was. Yes, it is trying to show the Germans as inhumane, but is that REALLY the fundamental message of the poster? The text was the answer, "A British woman wouldn't let this happen and a British women wouldn't forget it." Also "Red Cross or Iron Cross." What's the purpose of having that if it's trying to show them as inhumane? The poster is a call to action for women to enlist into the red cross

Yea I agree with you. The emphasis was placed on the nurse woman. it also mentioned that the British women wouldn't forget it, suggesting there is a sense of collective hatred towards the Germans among the Red Cross recruits. Kind of like you join the nurses you have the right to be mad and hate the Germans? idkkkk

The propaganda poster wasn't to make Germans seem inhumane. It was propaganda for the RED CROSS. Its aims are to promote the red cross and by portraying germans as inhumane it aimed to attract women to contribute to the war efforts by working for the red cross comparing it to the 'iron cross'.

I think that ppl thought the poster aimed at recruitment because since the German nurse wasn't giving the guy water, it would provoke women to enlist so that they can help their soldiers. But that doesn't make sense- why would a German nurse help the British soldier in the first place- they are meant to be caring for their own German casualities. So, to me the answer was that it was to show that Germans were inhumane

This. My teacher said it was inhumane. It is comparing the 'Red Cross' to the German 'Iron Cross'. Saying 'no German woman would do it' or whatever the wording was is just reinforcing the contrast between the two countries thus further establishing the 'horrors' of Germany. Just because the section was on recruitment doesn't mean anything - the question that specified this source was recruitment and PROPAGANDA and propaganda attempted to make the enemy look worse. That's what I got out of it anyway.
