Hiya,

Do we need to supply techniques + analysis of that technique for explain questions; eg explain the themes the composer portrays about belonging (2)

Or is it literally just asking for 2 thesis-like ideas about belonging which we gather from the text?

Thanks, that's what I thought. We had a past hsc marker dude who knew his stuff come and talk to us the other day though, he mentioned that explain questions don't need techniques (unless its explain how the techniques portray x, rather than explain the message about belonging the composer is referring to). He confused the heck out of me, as you stated I thought 1 mark = technique + explanation.
