I've got to write a speech in English (Advanced) based on Othello.
The statement I've been given to either agree/disagree to is
"The art of deception is an inherent part of human nature"
with references to be used in the response

I'm not sure how to begin and to structure it.
I'm not the biggest fan of Shakespeare and have trouble understanding the text.

Do it like an Essay but incorporate some sorts of colloquial language. Do short and punchy sentences, but you can do some long lines of analysis.

For your intro, make it something thats engaging rather than the classic TEEL response.

You don't have to incorporate overly complex language, use words that are effective and pronounceable. Try to end your main points with something thats engaging and memorable.

If you're talking about deception, obviously use a lot of Iago, and use that as your main point unless you can find another focus that you're good at. If I was to probably do it, I'd look up themes of deception and figure out what's the most appealing to me.

Remember, Iago is not the only form of deception throughout the play, although he is the one that is most obvious. Moreso, Iago is the one that causes deception in others. Look up themes of Appearance vs Reality etc.
